Desert run devblog

I know i was supposed to to finish my other project, but i got distracted by the pocket platformer engine,at first it was just a simple project just to see if i liked the engine, but i ended up making a full game!

Granted, its not the best thing ever and it wont win any awards or anything, but i feel that its an small improvement over the other games that i have made and honestly that’s the most important part,a small incremental increase in quality is not that big of a deal from project to project, but compared to all of my other games its a complete experience that’s fully functional, which is way better than all of my previous games.

Difficulties

It was very easy to finish the game as i didn’t have to program anything, but i still had some trouble during development, mainly the music, making music feels like an esoteric black box that i have to decipher,if i could replace making music with programming the platformer from scratch id choose programing every day of the week,i managed to make 2 new tracks and reuse one that i made for the previous project that just doesn’t fit in the game anymore.

Another problem is that pocket platformer seems to stutter in firefox?I’m not sure if it is a me problem but when i tested the game on a chromium browser it worked great,i tried removing some stuff from the laggiest level but that only made it playable,it didn’t fix the music stuttering.

The only reason this took 3 months was the fact that i didn’t have a PC available for half of that time,in fact,i don’t have a functional PC available as i’m typing this,i will probably post this on a borked Linux install before moving to Linux mint. Anyways, have some images and the link to the itch.io page.
